I went to Scalini for dinner. I would encourage to visit the place for a truly authentic italian experience. Booking in advance is recommended.
I found the restaurant very cosy, welcoming and having a great ambiance. I’d like to come back and explore the menu more. The waiters were attentive, friendly and helpful. They offer variety of pasta dishes, meat and fish dishes are on the expensive side but nevertheless I recommend this place.
Tried the burrata and it was nice.
Lasagna was amazing.
I dislike tiramisu but this one was recommended to us by a staff member and we don’t regret getting it because it was creamy and the coffee taste was very light. Yummy.
We ordered the Nutella cheesecake and I’d say it’s fineti cheesecake. The cheesey part of the cake tasted like fineti. I grew up eating fineti, it was our “Nutella” back where I was raised. So the dish was a taste of my childhood which I adored. Nonetheless there was a very thin spread of Nutella on the very top layer.
The cheesecake comes with a scoop of banana ice cream which isn’t my thing so it remained untouched. If you’re like me, maybe you can ask for a classic vanilla instead or not have ice cream all together.
Finally, ambience was it was nice. I liked how the place has a ‘private’ entrance with the elevator. Although from the moment I stepped foot in that elevator, it reeked alcohol. And the smell kept getting stronger and stronger after we were seated next to a couple who kept drinking. I’d advise that the elevator is ventilated properly and insert an air freshener that goes off every 10 minutes or so. And another suggestion would be while people are booking, they should be asked whether they’ll be drinking or not. This way you could choose the seating area accordingly. I’d also suggest better ventilation inside, air fresheners or any sort of diffuser to get rid of that smell. I took off a star for this reason.
Overall food was good, smell of the place not so good.
Absolutely loved the ambience and the service at this place. Went here for lunch on my anniversary. We ordered the calamari for starters. Truffle pizza and wagyu lasagna for mains. The pizza was rich, creamy and loved the truffle flavors. The lasagna wasn’t extraordinary but we still loved how simple it was. I will definitely go back to try their famous Lobster spaghetti and desserts next time!
